11-12-17 @North Heartland: Maximizing the Supportive (S) Personality
Good morning Family and Friends of North Heartland,
First of all, thank you to everyone who expressed their support and appreciation after my recent email/letter concerning safety and security at NHCC. We truly are fortunate to have such a great team.
Second, this Sunday we'll be continuing in our series, Maximizing Your Personality. On the "hot seat" this week are all of those blessed with the wonderful steady and supportive "S" personality type.:)
After last Sunday's message about the dominant "D" personality (which you can watch, listen to or read here), someone mentioned to me that even if you're not the type we're talking about that day, hearing the message helps you to better understand and relate to those who are. I totally agree! So, even if you're not an "S" you'll benefit from what we do Sunday.
Finally, I want to make sure you're aware of two other extremely timely and beneficial events lined up for this Sunday afternoon.
At 12:45 pm, we'll be hosting an hour-long luncheon and presentation for parents and other adults who are concerned about the rise of teen suicides in our area. The Teen Suicide Prevention workshop is provided free of charge by Diakonos Christian Counseling. Free childcare is also available for kids through 5th grade. You don't need a reservation but it would be extremely helpful for us to know you are coming so we can have enough food and materials. Go here to sign up.
Then, from 4:00-6:00 pm, Becky Franklin from Hands of Hope Christian Counseling will lead a free workshop called Grieving Through the Holidays. Becky has provided this experience for the past several years but I've never attended. However, having lost my mother to cancer in August, I'm planning on being there this time. Yesterday was my mom's birthday and I was surprised at how hard it was at various times during the day (like every time I saw the date). I suspect the holidays will be even harder, especially since she loved Christmas so much.
Anyway, if you're in the same boat with me, I hope you'll come, too. Free childcare is provided for kids up to 5th grade. Reservations aren't required but it would be helpful if you could let us know you're coming by signing up here.
That's all for now. Have a great Friday!
