12-17 @NHCC: "Jesus BC (Before Christmas)"
Good morning family and friends of NHCC,
As the song says, "it's beginning to look a LOT like Christmas" ... especially at North Heartland!
Not only has the interior of our building been amazingly transformed into a warm and cheery Winter Wonderland, but so has our exterior. If you have the chance to drive by in the evening sometime, check out the beautiful lighting that adorns pretty much all of our trees! A big THANK-YOU to all of the volunteers who put so much time and effort into both of these projects. Just one more reason why I LOVE North Heartland - it's the church I'd be part of even if I wasn't the pastor!
This Sunday is the final week of our series This Is Jesus (Part I): Origins. So far we've talked about why it is reasonable to believe that some kind of "Supernatural Supreme Being" exists and then, last Sunday, why it's reasonable to believe that Jesus of Nazareth really did exist and why we can trust what Matthew, Mark, Luke and John tell us about Him (even though they are biased and don't always agree in the details).
Of course, none of that matters all that much until you put it with the claim that Jesus of Nazareth was - and is - that Supernatural Supreme Being (i.e., GOD) come to Earth in the flesh. But what exactly does that mean? And what difference does it make?
That's what we'll look at this Sunday in the message Jesus BC (Before Christmas).
I have to tell you that I'm quite pleased with the response to this series ... which fires me up for This Is Jesus (Part II): Dawn of a New Day which begins on Sunday January 7th. More details on that later - stay tuned!
However, before then, we have a few weeks of Christmas festivities beginning with Celebration of Christmas which happens next Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday evenings ... all because an amazing group of volunteers (plus several key staff members!) has already put in a bunch of hours preparing for this project (with many more to come next week!) which allows us collectively as a church to offer something truly exceptional as a gift to our community.
If you have not yet reserved your tickets for the show (Christmas Through the Decades) DO NOT DELAY. Click here. This is a great time to invite friends and family who normally don't "do" church. If you need help with that, we made an awesome video that explains in 90 seconds what Celebration of Christmas is like. If you need help covering the cost of tickets ($5) for those you invite, send an email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
We could use about 5 more volunteers on Tuesday and Wednesday night and 10 more on Thursday night. These volunteer positions allow folks to serve and also see the show...click here.
Finally, would you please say a prayer right now for everyone involved in making this happen? It is such a huge production! And pray that many from our community will come and be drawn to Jesus as we shine the light of the Good News in such a unique (and fun!) way.
That's all for now. See you Sunday!
