Good morning NHCC Friends and Family,

First off, I hope you made it safely through last night’s storms and that, if you did not, you have someone to help. If you are in need of assistance, please contact our office at office@northheartland.org.

In less pressing matters, this Sunday is the final installment of “At the Movies” featuring the awesome Tom Hanks in Bridge of Spies. Hanks just has something that brings credibility to movies. I’m not sure exactly what it is but over the years, I have used Catch Me If You Can, Saving Private Ryan, Cast Away, Forest Gump, Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close, and The Polar Express in “movie messages.” (I’ve even wondered about doing a movie series called “The Gospel According to Tom Hanks.”) Bridge of Spies is as good as any of them and provides yet another great movie parable.

As for last week’s movie, Zootopia, if you missed the message you can see it by clicking here. (Note that the message portion actually begins at 16:33).

Finally, as a heads up on what’s happening message-wise after this Sunday … our next series is …

Big BUTS of the Bible

“But.” It’s a little word with big power because it changes reality. “But” is when the expected is displaced by the unexpected … which is why the big “buts” of the Bible are where we often encounter God.

Mar 19 The “But” That Lasts Forever
Mar 26 The “But” That No One Wants
Apr 02 The “But” You Need to Lose
Apr 09 The “But” That’s Hard to Believe
Apr 16 (Easter) The “But” That Changes Everything

Ok, that’s all for now!

Rick
