07-09-17@North Heartland: "Losing Our Religion" series continues
I hope you enjoyed the 4th of July holiday and that you are ready for the heat of summer. 😃
The heat is on at NHCC, too, as we continue this Sunday in our series, Losing Our Religion - a title which reflects the fact that people (especially those 35 and under) are turning away from Christianity and the church at a faster rate than ever.
Last Sunday I talked about why this trend is so disturbing given our undeniably Christian roots as a nation, plus I also talked about two possible reasons why it's happening. If you missed the message The De-Christianization of America, you can watch, listen to or read it in the media section of our app or do the same here at our website.
During the message, I quoted many of our founders and several folks asked afterwards where they could find those quotes. At the end of this blog, I'll share a few links that were helpful to me in preparing the message.
This Sunday we'll continue the series by examining one of the most prominent criticisms heard among those who are rejecting Christianity: Because It's Harmful and Repressive. In a recent survey, 46% of adults agreed with the statement "religion is part of the problem" and 42% also agreed that "people of faith are part of the problem."
In the message, I'll look at why so many believe that and then offer a reasoned and gracious response. I hope you'll be present or tuning in via our livestream at either the 9:30 or 11:00 service ...
... which brings me to some good news for those who use our livestream. Starting this Sunday, our app will feature a "Live Stream (audio only)" button which will be helpful for times when you're on the road during a service or if you have limited data on your cellphone plan. If you happen to use this option in the next few weeks, please let me know how it's working!
Ok, here are those links I promised.
See you Sunday I hope!
