12-23-18 @North Heartland: "The Santa Clause"
We experienced yet another high attendance day last Sunday (947 between both services!) as we examined the spiritual analogy provided by the classic Christmas comedy, Elf plus enjoyed watching several folks experience baptism. If you weren't able to be present or watching online, you can see the message and baptism here.

The final installment of Christmas at the Movies happens this Sunday with The Santa Clause (the first one) starring Tim Allen. I'm very much looking forward to sharing the incredible spiritual metaphor embedded in this movie and I hope you can be present at the service. It's going to be great! Plus, as part of this week's service, I'll be sharing the promotional video for our January series, Breathing Room, which will be yet another excellent opportunity to invite family and friends who are "outsiders" to the faith.
Finally, a couple of holiday schedule notes:
Christmas Eve services are Monday at 3:00 and 4:30 and will feature great music, video, dramatic presentation of the Christmas story and a very brief message from yours truly, all topped off with candle lighting and singing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. I promise - if you show up, it will be the best 47 minutes of your day! Note that we'll be providing childcare for birth up to Kindergarten.
On Sunday December 30th, our amazing Pancakes and Praise event returns in place of our regular services. Pancakes will be served at 9:30 then, at 11:00, we'll gather in the auditorium to sing a few worship services and turn the service over to you to share how God has worked in your life in the past year. This annual service is one of the best we do. The hour just flies by and by the time it's over, there's typically not a dry eye in the house! Note that we'll be providing nursery care for birth through age two at 9:30 nursery and then childcare up to Kindergarten at 11.
And a couple of financial notes:
If you want credit on your 2018 taxes for your gifts to NHCC, you need to make sure any end-of-year donations are either in our offices, postmarked, or donated online by midnight December 31st. I will add that we are running a bit behind our budgeted income for the year so, if you have been planning to give, now would be a great time to do so. 🙂
Our HOPEful Blessing project (which helps out North Heartlanders who need assistance with rent, utilities, medical bills and the like) has received $11,646 to date which puts us only $3,400ish short of our goal of $15K. Thank you to all who have stepped up on this in recent days!
To contribute to our regular ministry operations fund or the HOPE fund, go here and select the fund of your choice. You can also write a check or stop by one of the giving kiosks in the Info Center.
That's all for now - see you Sunday!
