06-23-19 @North Heartland: "Rules of Engagement"

Hey everyone,

Looks like summer is finally arriving this weekend both weather-wise and calendar-wise. I don't want to depress you but tomorrow, June 21st, is the longest day of the year in terms of sunlight (whoo hoo!) which means that it's all downhill from here (boo!). So get outside and enjoy all of that naturally-sourced Vitamin D!

Also make plans to join us for the third installment of the highly-controversial and occasionally offensive series The Divided States of America. This week's message is called Rules of Engagement.

As you know, these days almost everyone has an opinion on just about everything political. But before we talk about it, we need to learn how to talk about it especially if we are followers of Jesus. One of the most amazing things about the first disciples (and we'll look at this Sunday), is that they represented of each of the major political factions of that day. Yet, Jesus expected they would love each other in spite of their differences. Could it be possible in our day?

Before I let you go, I want to share a link with you of a recent interview I did on a podcast called Yoga to Cope. I've never met the two ladies who did the interview (they are based in California) but they heard through a North Heartlander about the State of Mind series I did earlier in the year and invited me to be a guest. Because of the trauma she has suffered in her own life, the woman who leads the company is now helping others deal with anxiety, depression and grief. The interview focuses on those issues as well as questions of God, Christianity and spirituality in general.

It was a blast to do this because the interviewers were so gracious and open, plus I was able to address several major misconceptions that non-Christians have. Click here if you want to check it out.

Have a great weekend and I will see you Sunday!
